Which deck width should I pick as a beginner?

Aim for 8.0" — modern standard, versatile. Below 1m70, drop to 7.75". Above 1m85, go up to 8.25".

How long does a deck last on average?

For a regular skater (3-5 sessions/week), a deck lasts 2 to 4 months. With Powell Flight tech you can reach 6-8 months.

Pro decks or shop decks?

Shop decks cost 30-40 €, pro decks 60-80 €. Quality, signature, durability are the difference. To start a shop deck is fine.

Should I buy grip with the deck?

Yes. Grip lasts as long as the deck or less. Count 4-7 € for Mob or Jessup grip.

How to avoid breaking a fresh deck too fast?

Avoid flat-bangs — the #1 board killer. Bend your knees, absorb the landing, re-open the board in the air before impact.

Decks

The deck is your signature, your main tool. Whether you skate street, park or cruiser, everything starts with the board you pick — its width, shape, concave, stiffness.

At Monsta we've curated a range that covers modern standards (7.75" to 8.5"+) with brands that have built the craft for 30 years: Powell-Peralta, Welcome, Santa-Cruz, Real.

Our take: a deck is 60-80 € of gear that lasts 3 to 6 months if you skate regularly. Invest in quality. We handle shipping, and if you hesitate between two sizes, write to us — we've all skated.
